Spicy Ketchup Ups the Zing Of This Spaghetti Burger

Food only has to be boring if you let it. Making exciting meals with flavor takes less time than you think. Take this sghettiburger for example.

If you want to control your blood sugar levels and blood pressure, eating out every night might not be the best answer. Chefs everywhere are known for pouring on the salt, and you can't control what else is put in your food.

When you're making food at home, it's more in your control to get great flavor with less salt simply by adding more spice. This modern take on a comforting dish of spaghetti and ground beef, brings the flavor with less salt and more fun.

Brooklyn Whatever's Jalapeño Ketchup takes this entire meal to a gourmet level. It's a simple recipe. I used local grass fed beef from small farm. I stuffed the meat with 1 1/2 tablespoons of oregano and added a splash of Lesedi Farm Peri Peri sauce (available on Treatmo iOS app). And before it was completely done, I carved out a square piece from the center of the patty and placed a small hunk of cheddar cheese, layering the cutout back on top.

Cook on medium heat for 15-25 minutes (depending on desired preparation rare being the least cooked). Flip halfway.

Cook your spaghetti (I used a rice based spaghetti) until tender all the way through. With a large fork, twirl the spaghetti and pat into a pre-heated and oiled pan on medium heat. Press the spaghetti down with a spatula and brown it, shake on black pepper. Once somewhat firm on the bottom, flip and lightly caramelize the other side.

I used organic cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil from Kämen Foods from the Treatmo marketplace, a California company that sources premium olive oil from Chile.
