Getting out here puts you smack at the northern edge of the neighborhood. Walk south down 1st Avenue to 11th Street and turn right. The L is a NYC Subway route named the 14th Street - Canarsie Local. It runs from 8th Avenue and 14th Street in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood and travels along 14th Street through Union Square and into the East Village. Then it crosses the East River to the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn and continues to Canarsie at Rockaway Parkway. Canarsie is a residential neighborhood in the southeast part of Brooklyn.
